We are using a lot of thumbnails, and we've noticed that IE has the annoying habit of prompting for 'open or download' whenever we click a thumbnail with a gif image. Jpeg images seem to work properly. I realize this is an IE only issue, but since everyone in our company uses IE (company policy) this is a big problem for us.
I believe a possible solution for this could be: instead of linking directly to the image you could link to a very simple html page with the image on it.
