Christina asked that I describe the "quirky behavior" I'm seeing in the Confluence editor.
The main problem is that I am having trouble getting outline formatting to work the way I want it to. If I have the following code:
# The graduating student makes decisions affecting the practice of dentistry based on ethical principles and as prescribed by law. The graduating student... ## Practices as obliged by principles of ethics and the ADA Code of Ethics ## Practices within the context of the appropriate state Dental Practice Act. # The graduating student participates in professional self-regulation. The graduating student... ## Practices within the context of the appropriate state Dental Practice Act. ## Understands the need for and establishes a plan for personal/professional growth and development.
It does not seem to be possible to insert a space between the numbered items, so everything is run together without line breaks. If you insert a space, it restarts the numbering. This isn't a deal-breaking issue, but it affects the readability of the page.
As I think through this, most of the complaints I have are with TinyMCE, or maybe specifically the TinyMCE implementation in Confluence. I don't expect it to have all of the functionality of Word, but it seems impractical to try to expose functionality like outline formatting if usability is limited in this way.
It's also possible that I am approaching this from the wrong direction or don't understand completely how to use the editor! If you can help me get these pages looking nice, or if I should take this over to the user forum, please let me know.
Thanks for your help.
