Image thumbnail does not preserve PNG image transparency

      When a PNG image with alpha channel transparency is added to a page as a thumbnail, the image loses its transparency. Instead an ugly wrong-colored box is drawn around the thumbnail, making thumbnails for PNGs essentially useless.

      The original image when viewed by clicking on thumbnail, preserves the PNG transparency correctly.
