Square Brackets in the Title of a {noformat} macro can not be escaped, causes a new page link to appear

Generally, when using the Confluence Wiki Markup, square brackets [ & ] can be escaped using a back-slash \. However, when attempting to use the same behaviour within the title attribute of the {noformat} macro, this does not happen; and a new page link appears.
