    Description

One of our users is trying to move a page (reparent a page) in edit mode. Normally, when you click to edit a page, and you edit the Location area, the current page is highlighted, and "you can move the highlighted page by dragging it to a new position in the tree" (as the instruction says). This is illustrated in the attached confluence_page_edit_normal.jpg. For most pages in our system, this works normally.

However, it is puzzling to us that some pages don't let us do this. When we click to edit the page, the Location area is shown in collapsed mode (see confluence_page_edit_broken1.jpg). When we expand the tree, the current page is not selected, and when you try clicking and dragging it to a new position, it gives you a little "circle with a line through it" image, and prevents you from moving the page. This is shown in the attached confluence_page_edit_broken2.jpg.

We tried different browsers (Firefox 3.0 and IE7), same thing happens.

We tried with both regular users and administrators, same thing happens.

There are no restrictions on the page (or in the space for that matter). The page has children, but that hasn't stopped us from moving pages in the past. None of the child pages have restrictions.

This seems like a bug, perhaps due to the content in the page. There is little in the page that I can see, however, that might be causing the problem. It is standard out-of-the-box confluence markup. There are no special plug-ins used on the page.

I tried searchi JIRA for a similar issue... couldn't find one. So I'm raising this bug.

It's not a blocker for us. We can move the page using the Pages "tree" view in the Space area.
