      Summary

When using the "Edit in Office" feature, Confluence copies over the previous comment in the new attachment version which can lead to falsely associating data to a user.

      Environment

      • Confluence 6.x
      • Any supported Microsoft Office package
      • Internet Explorer

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Log in as "user1".
      2. Go to a page, click the ellipsis (...) button and select "Attachments".
      3. Add a Word attachment in the page with the text "user1 comment" in the comment field.
      4. Log out and log in as "user2".
      5. Go to the same page and use the "Edit in Office" function.
      6. Perform any change in the document and save it.

      Expected Results

Confluence should create a "version 2" of the attachment with no comment - considering that the "Edit in Office" does not provide a comment field when you save it.

      Actual Results

Confluence creates a "version 2" of the attachment with the same comment as the previous version.

      Workaround

Go to the attachment screen and remove the text at "New comment" field. This will only fix the comment for the current version of the attachment.
