    Description

The office connector includes the viewfile macro. This macro allows you to view content from attachments inline. Customers find the macro a little bit heavy-weight. Adnan and I recently discussed using the ability to add exclamation points around a file name to make it viewable.

The best way to implement this would be as a new plugin type. That way new file types could be added. So for example, if you wanted to include the contents from a java source file attached to the page. You could write an extension to pretty print the file and a user would only have to type Unable to render embedded object: File (MyClass.java) not found. and an html view of the source code would be inserted into the page.

The other use case is of course the Office Connector where you could do something Unable to render embedded object: File (presentation.ppt) not found. to insert the contents of a presentation.
