We have confluence 2.5.6 running and it allows case sensitive Adding, Editing, Viewing of Groups, either via SOAP and Web-UI.

Now i am running my SOAP-Management on a 2.8.1 and saw that it only allows lowercase anymore, but still the items in the database are case-sensitive. Of course you can recommend now, that i lowercase my existing groups, but that isnt the point.

I can remember when i got an officially statement that case sensitive should be there because of integration with other user frameworks. So i wonder why it has been changed to lower completely. Hope you can fix this in the 2.8.* releases.

I am not really sure that will be done, please give me a good reason why case sensitivity has been turned off, as i am willing to switch to a 2.8+ release in the next future, but this gives me a big headache... (things on upgrading you not think of )
