Global logos are only displayed in Dashboard, not on any pages. Tested all themes, image would not display at all with Default, Classic and Left Hand Navigation themes. Clickr theme worked once, however would not display at all after uploading replacement image.
Global logo files also take a while to appear in Dashboard. Old logo will continue to be shown despite being replaced by new file in Resources folder instantaneously.
Loading a few new pages (roughly a minute or so after upload) seems to fix this, as will a reboot of Confluence.
A patch for Confluence 2.8 is now available for this bug:
Place the attached ConfluenceBandanaPersister.class ConfluenceDaoBandanaPersister.class into
<confluence install root>/confluence/WEB-INF/classes/com/atlassian/confluence/setup/bandana
You may have to create the bandana subdirectory.
Then restart Confluence.
