I've deployed the application as an exploded directory. The log4j.properties files in WEB-INF/classes is not being read.

There is a log4j.configuration= directive in the server startup that may be conflict with it, but I'm not a log4j expert. How is log4j being inited in the app? Is is looking for a specific resource in the classpath or is it using the default mechanism?

Perhaps a way to override the default mechanism is in order?
