Feedback: the Confluence documentation really needs some work, because it's in a pretty superficial state at the moment. I was trying to setup a new server and migrate away from an old one (which wasn't documented at all by a previous person on my team). The part where the JDBC connector gets configured has no hints at all to make it work - quite unlike the documentation you have for JIRA.
This is the information for Confluence:
http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Database+Setup+For+mySQL
Not only does it have missing parts, it references utilities which require GUIs. This doesn't show any of the underlying details necessary for performing the same functions on the command-line. This makes me extremely unhappy as debugging when it doesn't work amounts to trial-and-error.
In contrast, here is the documentation for Jira:
http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Setting+up+JIRA+Standalone+and+MySQL+on+Linux
I was (pleasantly) surprised to find it so straightforward.
