Issue Summary
On the "Page History", the "Key" and the changes made in the page use color alone to distinguish them.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open Confluence Data Center homepage.
- Open a page that has at least two versions containing text additions, deletions, and formatting changes.
- Navigate to and activate "More options" button > Select "Page History".
- Check any two versions checkbox and activate "Compare selected versions" button.
- Observe the comparison difference in the "Key" at the top and page content uses color alone.

Actual Results
Color alone for addition of line (green), and formatting change (blue) is used to identify the comparison difference in the Key and on the main page content. There are no visual indicator such as an underline, text decorations, icons, or markings to indicate the changes.
This will make it difficult for users with low vision and those with color blindness to distinguish changes or updates made within the text of the page and understanding the Key.
Expected Results
Content changes (added, removed, modified) must not rely on color alone and must also be provided with secondary visual indicators.
To make it easy for all users to understand the Key and recognize the changes made on the page, the best practice is to consistently provide visible border/outline/background that distinguishes it from its surrounding text. In this scenario, we can apply following changes -
- Added content: Provide an addition indicator (e.g., + symbol or similar).
- Formatting changes: Underline text alongside color highlights.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available.
