Provide administrative controls for HTML space exports to prevent excessive resource consumption

XMLWordPrintable

      Problem

Confluence Data Center currently does not provide administrators with native controls to govern HTML space exports.

There are no configurable limits to prevent concurrent HTML exports, limit resource consumption, or perform resource checks before an export begins. As a result, HTML exports can consume significant temporary disk space and potentially impact node stability.

      Suggested Solution

Provide administrators with configurable controls for HTML space exports to prevent excessive resource consumption.

Potential implementations could include one or more of the following:

      • Limit the number of concurrent HTML space exports.
      • Prevent concurrent HTML exports of the same space.
      • Allow administrators to configure limits based on export size or content volume.
      • Perform resource-aware admission checks (for example, available disk space) before starting an HTML export.

      Why This Is Important

HTML space exports can generate a significant amount of temporary data during the export process. Without preventative controls, large or concurrent exports may consume excessive system resources and impact the availability or stability of Confluence Data Center.

Providing administrators with configurable controls would help protect production environments while still allowing HTML exports when appropriate.
