Confluence pages with images embedded often do not flow well because it is difficult to see how the image relates to the text and vice-versa. Use of LaTeX-style markup for image metadata will help improve readability of confluence pages which have images.
Two examples of useful image metadata are caption text and image identifiers. Caption text will help to put an image in context without reading the entire page. An image id can be used to reference the image from within the text (eg, see fig1) to improve maintainability of a page and also make it easy for readers to locate the image in question.
