Anchor links in Confluence Cloud stopped working - fix them

XMLWordPrintable

My team writes documentation in a private Confluence Cloud space (not visible to anonymous users), which is later synced to a public Confluence Cloud space (visible to anonymous users) using the Comala Publishing app. We’ve noticed that links added on private pages don’t always convert correctly when those pages are synced to the public space.

Previously, when we added a link on a private page and published it, the page ID in the URL would update to the ID of the published (public) page—regardless of whether we manually typed the URL or used the Copy Link option on the private page. Now the URL remains unchanged, and when viewed in incognito mode, those links don’t work on the published pages.

We use Refined Theme to preview our documentation in incognito mode.

The links don’t work in either Confluence Cloud or Refined Theme. The issue affects Confluence Cloud.

      Steps to reproduce

      1. Open a private Confluence Cloud page.
      1. Click Edit and make a change.
      1. Click Update to save the change.
      1. Click the Out of sync / Sync label, then click Publish.
      1. Click the Sync label again and select View Published Page.
      1. Click an anchor link.

      Expected result

      All links should work.

      Current result

      Only some links work.

I don't see a Confluence Cloud or Confluence project, so I am logging this in the Confluence Data Center project.
