Adding emotion (smiley characters) in tables automatically appends an undesirable line break

I often use smileys to indicate status for tasks that I list in tables (green check mark for completed tasks, red - symbol for tasks that are yet to be completed, etc).

Since we updated to 2.6.0, every time I use a smiley in a table, Confluence appends a line break after the symbol. When I try to insert:

      (/)

      I get:

      (/)\\

I can remove the line breaks manually, but they reappear automatically as soon as I save the page.

I've attached an example of the hard breaks.
