Page PDF export fails and gets stuck at 0% due to timeout on pages with large number of Code blocks containing large amounts of text
Exporting a Confluence page to PDF fails or hangs indefinitely at 0% when the page:
Contains a high volume of Code blocks, or
Contains Code blocks holding large amounts of text (such as long scripts, logs, configuration files, or JSON/XML payloads).
During the export process, Confluence renders and applies syntax highlighting and formatting to all Code block content, causing the task to exceed the backend processing timeout and fail.
Steps to Reproduce
Create a Confluence page containing numerous Code blocks (or Code blocks with large amounts of text, e.g. thousands of lines).
Attempt to export the page to PDF.
Notice the export remains at 0%.
Expected Results
All Code block content renders completely and the PDF file downloads.
Actual Results
The export progress remains stuck at 0% until the backend processing timeout is reached, causing the export to fail.
Workaround
Split the page to reduce the total number of Code blocks on the page.
Move large code/text content out of Code blocks and into attachments (e.g. .txt, .log, .json files), then link to them from the page.
Split long Code block content across multiple sub-pages.
