Issue Summary
Knowledge Base visibility settings fail with "Stale view permission" error when the linked Confluence space
Steps to Reproduce
- Link a Confluence space to a Jira Service Management project.
- Ensure the Confluence space is using the updated permissions interface (where permissions are managed via Space Settings > Space Access > Members).
- Navigate to JSM Space Settings > Knowledge Base.
- Attempt to change the "Who can view" visibility setting (for example, from "All logged-in users" to "Only Confluence users").
- Click Save.
Expected Results
The permission change is automatically applied to the Confluence space.
Actual Results
- The JSM UI displays the error: "Couldn't apply changes. Retry."
- In the browser's Network tab, a 409 Conflict or 500 Internal Server Error is returned from the /rest/knowledge-base/1.0/permissions/ endpoint.
- The response body in the browser console may contain a reference to a "Stale view permission."
...
Workaround
The permission must be updated manually from the Confluence side where the new UI is active:
- Navigate to the affected Confluence Space > Space Settings > Space Access > Members.
- Look for the information banner or setting that says "Any active user can view this space" and click "Disable this permission."
- Return to the JSM space settings > Channels & self service > Knowledge Base page; the updated state will now be reflected correctly.
