Issue Summary
The "Viewing" dropdown in the Recent space activity section of a space homepage lets users filter by entity type ("All", "Pages", "Blog posts", "Comments"). It has two related problems:
- The width of the options list depends on the length of the selected option. With "All" selected, the list gets so narrow that the options can barely be read. It gets wider once another option is selected.
- If the selected option has no related updates, the dropdown disappears from the page completely.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open any space homepage.
- Scroll to the Recent space activity section.
- With All selected in the Viewing dropdown, open the dropdown. The options list is very narrow and hard to read.
- Select another option, such as Comments, and open the dropdown again. The options list is now wider.
- Select an option that has no related updates in the space, such as Blog posts in a space with no recent blog posts.
- The Viewing dropdown disappears from the Recent space activity section.
Expected Results
- The options list is always wide enough to show every option clearly, whichever option is selected.
- The Viewing dropdown always stays visible, even when the selected option has no related updates. An empty state should show instead, and users can still switch to another option.
Actual Results
- The options list's width follows the length of the selected option. With All selected, the list is narrowed to the point where the options can barely be read.
- The list only widens when a longer option is selected.
- When the selected option has no related updates, the Viewing dropdown disappears from the page completely.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behaviour. A workaround will be added here when available
