Issue Summary
When using Fit to content, the table looks fine while editing. However, after publishing, the columns become narrower and some text moves to the next line.
This happens because Confluence does not keep the selected column widths when Compact density and Max width page settings are used together.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a new Confluence page.
- Set the page to Compact density and Max width.
- Insert a table with 2 rows and 6 columns.
- Enter a long text in the first column and populate (or leave empty) other columns
- Select Fit to content. The table looks fine in edit mode.
- Publish the page.
Expected Results
The table should look the same after publishing as it did while editing, without text wrapping unnecessarily.
Actual Results
After publishing, some columns become narrower and the long text characters moves to the next line, even though Fixed column widths was selected.
The issue occurs when Compact density and Max width are used together.
Workaround
Change either of the two page settings:
- Use Standard density instead of Compact.
- Or use Wide page width instead of Max.
Both options have been tested and resolve the issue.
Test Results:
| Page density | Page width | Result |
