Issue Summary
PDFs embedded on Confluence Cloud pages using the built-in PDF macro (View File macro) are rendered as blurry, pixelated, low-resolution images. The degradation affects:
- Inline viewing on the page
- Fullscreen viewing within Confluence
The original source PDF files are clear and fully legible when opened in any native PDF viewer.
Steps to Reproduce
- Step 1 Upload a PDF file as an attachment to a Confluence Cloud page
- Step 2 Insert the PDF using the built-in PDF macro
- Step 3 Publish the page.
Expected Results
The PDF macro should render the embedded PDF at sufficient resolution for text to be legible, matching or closely approximating the quality of the source file.
Actual Results
The PDF macro renders the embedded PDF at a fixed low resolution, producing a visibly degraded, blurry output. Fine text, tables, and detailed graphics are particularly affected. The rendering quality does not improve when zooming in or switching to fullscreen mode.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
