When a new user joins a Confluence Cloud site via Approved Domains by clicking a shared direct page URL (deep link), they are presented with a "Confluence access is in progress" screen after login. The user cannot access the requested page until they manually refresh the browser or log out and log back in.
This creates a poor first-time user experience, especially in enterprise environments where shared page links are the primary way content is distributed to new team members.
Current Behavior:
- A new user (not yet on the site) receives a direct Confluence page link
- They click the link and are redirected to Atlassian login
- After login, Approved Domains grants them Confluence product access
- Instead of reaching the target page, they see "Confluence access is in progress" "Restricted page"
- Manual refresh or re-login is required to access the page
Expected Behavior:
After a user is granted Confluence access via Approved Domains, the system should either:
- Redirect the user directly to the originally requested page once provisioning is complete, OR
- Display a brief, clear "setting up your access" state that automatically redirects to the target page without requiring manual intervention
Impact:
- Poor first-time user experience for enterprise customers relying on Approved Domains
- Increased support tickets from confused new users
- Undermines confidence in shared link workflows
Workaround:
Users can refresh the browser or log out and log back in after the initial "access in progress" message.
