Issue Summary
Currently, the search bar in Confluence Cloud displays a generic placeholder:
"Search Confluence, Slack, Google Drive and other apps"
This placeholder is shown regardless of whether a site has configured a Full Rovo Connector (which indexes the entire third-party app) or is simply using the default Smart Link integration (which only indexes files already linked/pasted in Confluence)
The Problem:
On sites without a full connector, the UI makes a "Global Search" promise that the system cannot fulfill. Users are misled into thinking they can search their entire Google Drive or Slack history directly from Confluence.
When a user searches for a file that exists in their Google Drive but has not yet been linked in Confluence, they receive zero results. This leads to:
- User Confusion: Users perceive the search function as "broken" or "unreliable" because it fails to find known files.
- Misaligned Expectations: The placeholder text suggests a deep integration (Rovo) is active, even when the site is only using basic link-resolving (Smart Links).
