Issue Summary

Existing Confluence Cloud public links are rendering page content incorrectly for anonymous/external viewers: content that is left‑aligned when viewed while logged in appears centrally aligned/misaligned when accessed via the public link.

Key patterns:

• Old/existing public links (enabled weeks/months ago) show misaligned or centered content (tables, images, text) when viewed logged out.

• New public links created for a page for the first time render correctly (left‑aligned, as expected).

• Disabling and re‑enabling a public link for an affected page does not fix the alignment – the same URL is reused, and the misalignment persists.

• Editing and re‑publishing affected pages also does not fix the issue.

Steps to Reproduce

1. In Confluence Cloud, open a migrated DC→Cloud page that already has a public link created a few weeks ago.

1. While logged in, view the page and confirm content (text/tables/images) is left‑aligned.

1. Open the same public link in an incognito/logged‑out browser.

• • Content now appears centrally aligned / misaligned.

1. Toggle the public link off and on for that page and reopen it logged out.

• • The same URL is used and the misalignment persists.

1. Create a new test page with similar content, enable a public link for the first time, and open it logged out.

• • Alignment is correct (left‑aligned).

Expected Results

• Public links should render page content consistently with the logged‑in view:

• • If a page is left‑aligned in published (logged‑in) mode, the public link should also be left‑aligned for anonymous users.

• Existing/older public links should not suddenly change alignment behavior after a backend or frontend change.

• Toggling public links off/on for a page should not leave the link in a “broken visual state” where alignment is wrong.

Actual Results

• For a subset of pages (notably migrated DC → Cloud pages with existing public links), external/public view shows:

• • Content (text, tables, images) is centrally aligned / misaligned, even though the logged‑in view is left‑aligned and correct.

• This behaviour:

• • Appeared recently (customer reports it started ~2 weeks ago; previously these same public links rendered correctly).

• • Affects all pages with existing public links in the customer’s space, according to the customer.

• Attempts to correct it:

• • Editing and saving the page: no change – public link still misaligned.

• • Disabling and re‑enabling the public link: no change – same URL, same misalignment.

• • New public links created for the first time on other pages: render fine and are left‑aligned externally.

Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available

Partial/possible mitigations from product behaviour:

• Creating a new page (or copying the old one) and enabling a public link for the first time appears to render correctly. However:

• • This is not scalable for many pages.
