Issue Summary
When editing a Confluence Cloud page that uses multi-column layouts (for example, two columns with a right sidebar) and the page width is set to Max, the editor content — especially images inside the layout — visibly shakes and flickers on mouse hover, making the page difficult to edit. Switching the width back to Wide stops the flickering.
Steps to Reproduce
- Step 1
Create or open a Confluence Cloud page that contains a Layout section with two columns (for example, "Two columns with right sidebar") and images placed inside each column with text wrapping around them. - Step 2
Click Edit on the page. - Step 3
In the page header, set the page width to Max. - Step 4
Move the mouse cursor over the images and surrounding text inside the layout section. Perform small, repeated hover movements within the layout area.
Expected Results
The page content remains visually stable while editing. Hovering the mouse over images or text inside layout columns does not cause any shaking or flickering.
Actual Results
When the page width is set to Max and the page contains multi-column layouts with images, the content inside the layout shakes and flickers as the mouse moves over the images and nearby text.
The flickering stops if the page width is changed from Max to Wide, or if the layout is simplified or removed.
No explicit error or exception is surfaced in the UI. The issue presents as unstable layout reflows in the editor.
Workaround
Change the page width from Max to Wide when editing pages that use multi-column layouts with images.
In the page editor, open the width dropdown and select Wide instead of Max. This prevents the flickering and allows stable editing.
