Issue Summary
Jira Smart Links on Confluence pages do not update consistently after the corresponding Jira ticket has been modified (e.g., Summary or Status changes) on the Jira side
Steps to Reproduce
- Copy and paste a Jira issue URL onto a Confluence page so it resolves as a Smart Link.
- Update the Summary or Status of that ticket within Jira.
- Refresh the Confluence page and observe if the Smart Link reflects the changes.
- Hover the mouse cursor over the Smart Link to trigger the preview window.
Expected Results
Steps 3 and 4: The Jira Smart Link and its hover preview should reflect the most recent information from Jira.
Actual Results
- Step 3: On a newly created page, the Smart Link often fails to update, continuing to display the stale information from before the Jira update.
- Step 4: On existing pages, the Smart Link may initially show the correct information after a refresh; However, upon hovering, the preview window displays the old information. Furthermore, the Smart Link summary on the page itself may "revert" to the old information after the hover interaction.
Note: The Jira Issue Macro does not exhibit this behavior and displays updated information as expected.
Workaround
- Wait at least 6-10 minutes for the backend cache to expire and refresh the page.
- Use the Jira Issue Macro instead of Smart Links if real-time data accuracy is required
