Summary
All anonymous user views are grouped as one single user on the Analytics. If multiple people access the same page anonymously, the total number of users who viewed the page increase by only one, regardless of how many anonymous users accessed the page.
Since anonymous users aren't logged in, Analytics does not use cookies or IP tracking to distinguish them (CONFCLOUD-76732). The system labels this as "Unidentified Traffic", counting all anonymous views as one Anonymous User in the Analytics dashboard.
This offers no detail or separation among anonymous users, and all views through anonymous access will only be added to the count of total views when it should allow having a way to track an individual count of each anonymous user views in Analytics.
Proposed Solution
Improve Analytics data for anonymous user logs by enabling individual tracking of anonymous user views.
Site admins may find beneficial to track how often each anonymous user accesses a page or identify which anonymous users view content. Differentiating users by IP address would support this, balancing business and security needs.
If tracking anonymous users by IP address (FR) is not possible, at least provide admins a way to know how many distinct anonymous users accessed the content. That would also increase the number of how many users viewed the page (Total viewers count).
