Enable deeper and more flexible nesting of macros and layout structures in the Confluence Cloud new editor, to match or exceed what was possible in the legacy editor.

Customers have complex pages built in the legacy editor that rely on deeply nested structures, such as:

      • Sections / columns
      • Panels
      • Expand / Expandable content
      • Code Block / other content macros
      • Other layout or formatting macros

In the new editor, the nesting depth and allowed macro combinations are more constrained. As a result, when migrating or editing these pages, content can be:

      • Re-ordered
      • Pulled out of its original parent container
      • Flattened or partially “broken”
      • Hard or impossible to reproduce using the new editor’s constraints

This is particularly visible during legacy -> new editor conversion.
