Summary:
Admins would like the ability to automatically export audit logs from Confluence, and to configure a schedule for these exports to occur.
Current Behavior:
Currently, audit logs in Confluence can be accessed via Confluence > Settings Cog > Audit Logs. However, the process of exporting these logs is manual and requires regular administrator intervention.
Proposed Enhancement:
- Automated Export: Implement a feature that allows admins to automate the export of audit logs. This feature should support exporting logs in common formats such as CSV or JSON for easy integration with other systems.
- Scheduling Capability: Provide a scheduling option where admins can set the frequency of exports (e.g., daily, weekly, monthly) and the specific time for the export to occur.
- Delivery Options: Enable admins to choose how they receive the exported logs, such as through email or direct download.
- Notification System: Implement a notification system to alert admins in case of export failures or other issues.
Benefits:
- Efficiency: Reduces the manual effort required by admins to export logs, freeing up time for other tasks.
- Compliance: Supports organizational compliance by ensuring regular and reliable export of audit logs.
- Integration: Simplifies integration with other monitoring and reporting systems by providing logs in a standardized format on a regular basis.
Use Cases:
- Organizations needing regular audit log reviews for compliance with internal or external policies.
- Admins who want to integrate audit logs into automated monitoring and alerting systems.
- Teams that require historical audit log data for security analysis and reporting.
Conclusion:
Introducing automated export and scheduling capabilities for audit logs would greatly enhance the usability and compliance readiness of Confluence, making it easier for administrators to manage and monitor system activity effectively.
