Issue Summary
When viewing Confluence pages at higher browser zoom levels, the vertical scroll bar on the right side of the page becomes effectively unusable: the draggable scroll thumb cannot be clicked and dragged because the gutter area is obscured / taken over by a resize handle. Scrolling via mouse wheel or trackpad gestures still works, but users cannot scroll by dragging the scroll bar itself. The zoom level at which this occurs varies depending on the user’s screen size and resolution (e.g., 150% for the customer, ~200% in internal testing).
A replication video is available and demonstrates the behavior.
Steps to Reproduce
- Open any Confluence page that is long enough to require vertical scrolling.
- In the browser, increase the zoom level (e.g., using Ctrl/Cmd + +) until the issue appears.
-
- For the affected customer, the issue appears at 150% zoom.
-
- In internal testing, the issue could be reproduced around 200% zoom (exact trigger varies by screen size and resolution).
- Move the mouse to the vertical scroll bar on the right side of the page.
- Attempt to click and drag the scroll thumb to scroll up/down.
- Observe that a resize handle/area appears to overlap or take over the scroll bar region at these higher zoom levels.
- Try scrolling using:
-
- Mouse scroll wheel, and
-
- Trackpad / touchpad scroll gestures.
Expected Results
- At all supported zoom levels (e.g., from 100% upward, including 150% and 200%):
-
- The vertical scroll bar should remain fully usable.
-
- Users should be able to click and drag the scroll thumb to scroll the page up and down.
-
- No other UI element (such as a resize handle) should overlap or block interaction with the scroll bar.
Actual Results
- At higher zoom levels (threshold varies by screen size and resolution):
-
- The right-side scroll bar region is partially or fully taken over by a resize option/handle.
-
- The draggable scroll thumb cannot be reliably clicked and dragged.
-
- The scroll bar becomes effectively useless for drag-based scrolling.
-
- However, scrolling still works via:
-
-
- Mouse scroll wheel
-
-
-
- Touchpad / trackpad scroll gestures
-
- This means only the drag-to-scroll interaction is broken; scroll input via wheel/gesture still functions.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
