Currently, in Confluence Cloud, Space Admins have the ability to delete entire spaces. This presents a significant risk of accidental or unauthorized deletion of critical content, which can result in data loss and operational disruption.
Request:
Please remove the "Delete Space" permission from the Space Admin role in Confluence Cloud. This permission should be granted exclusively to Site Admins (global administrators). Space Admins should not have the ability to delete spaces by default.
Proposed Solution:
- Restrict the "Delete Space" permission so that only Site Admins can perform this action.
- Optionally, introduce an additional confirmation or approval workflow for space deletion, even for Site Admins.
Rationale:
- Prevents accidental deletion of important spaces by users with limited administrative scope.
- Reduces the risk of unauthorized or malicious deletion by compromised or misinformed Space Admins.
- Aligns with best practices for data governance and access control in enterprise environments.
Business Impact:
Restricting this permission will help organizations protect critical knowledge and ensure that only the highest-level administrators can perform irreversible actions, thereby improving data security and compliance.
