Issue Summary
Ability to disable or turn off in-app (bell icon) notifications in Confluence Cloud
Currently, Confluence Cloud does not provide a way for users or administrators to disable in-app notifications (bell icon notifications) displayed within the product interface.
While users can manage or mute email notifications in their personal settings, in-app notifications are always enabled and cannot be turned off.
As a result, users who receive frequent alerts—especially page owners or administrators watching multiple spaces—find it difficult to manage notifications efficiently.
Suggested features
Customers suggest adding a feature that allows users (or site administrators) to disable or customize in-app notifications, such as:
- A toggle to turn off in-app notifications completely for individual users or globally for the site
- The ability to limit which types of events trigger in-app notifications (e.g., comments, mentions, page edits)
- A configurable setting in user or admin notification preferences to manage in-app notification visibility
Expected outcome
Users and administrators will have more control over how they receive notifications.
By allowing in-app notifications to be disabled or customized, users who prefer to manage updates only through email or other channels can reduce unnecessary interruptions and improve focus.
This also aligns the in-app notification system with the flexibility already available in email notification settings.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
