Issue Summary
When viewing Smart Links inside a Confluence Cloud Database, Japanese titles occasionally appear as garbled text (“???”). The issue occurs intermittently upon page reload and affects only Smart Link fields within Databases. It reproduces across multiple browsers and environments, indicating a server-side encoding inconsistency. Currently, no workaround has been identified.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create two pages titled “サンプル仕様1” and “サンプル仕様2”.
- Create a new Database, add a Smart Link column.
- Paste the two pages created in step 1 into that Smart Link column.
- Reload the Database page multiple times (approx. 10 reloads).
- Observe the Smart Link titles.
Expected Results
- Smart Link titles should consistently display correct Japanese text without encoding errors.
Actual Results
- Japanese titles intermittently appear as garbled “???” characters instead of the correct text.
- The issue occurs randomly (roughly 10% of reloads).
- Occurs in multiple browsers and accounts, independent of cache or network.
Workaround
Currently, no workaround has been identified.
