Issue Summary
Users are unable to upload files via drag and drop in Confluence Cloud. When attempting to drag and drop a file either into a database cell with a Media and Files field or onto a Confluence page in view mode, the file does not attach as expected. Instead, the browser opens the file in a new tab using its local file path link.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a new Database in Confluence Cloud.
- Add a Media and Files field to the database.
- Click on a cell in that field.
- Drag and drop a file from your system into the cell.
- Observed: File opens in a new tab instead of attaching to the cell.
- Try dragging and dropping a file onto a Confluence page in view mode.
- Observed: File opens in a new tab, not attached to the page.
Expected Results
The dragged file should attach directly to the selected database cell under Media and Files field.
When dragged to a Confluence page, the file should attach to the page and display inline (if supported).
Actual Results
The file opens in a new browser tab instead of being uploaded or attached.
Workaround
Click on Browse and upload the attachment
