      Summary

Currently, when users press the keyboard shortcut g + r to open “Recent items” in Confluence Cloud, the recent items panel always opens next to the fixed “Recent” link at the top of the sidebar. If the sidebar is scrolled down to a lower section, the panel may appear off-screen, requiring users to scroll back up to view it.

      Description

When navigating Confluence using the keyboard shortcut g + r, users expect the “Recent items” panel to open in a visible, contextually relevant position relative to their current view in the sidebar. However, the current behavior is fixed to the top “Recent” entry, regardless of where the user has scrolled in the sidebar.

      As a result:

      • If the sidebar is scrolled down (e.g. the user is viewing the middle of the sidebar), opening “Recent items” causes the panel to appear next to the fixed “Recent” link at the very top. As a result, only the lower portion of the panel may be visible, forcing the user to scroll back up to see all items.

This reduces the intended efficiency and usability of the keyboard shortcut.

      Suggested features

      • Adjust the behavior of the “Recent items” shortcut (g + r) so that the panel appears relative to the user’s current sidebar view or in a floating position independent of the sidebar scroll state.
      • Ensure that the panel is always visible immediately upon using the shortcut, without requiring manual scrolling.

      Expected outcome

      • Users can quickly access all recent items using g + r regardless of their sidebar scroll position.
      • The shortcut provides consistent, intuitive behavior and fulfills its role as a productivity feature.
      • Improves user experience, particularly for spaces with long sidebars.
