      Issue Summary

Currently, when an inline comment marker (e.g., <ac:inline-comment-marker ac:ref="...">) is present on or around smartlink text in a Confluence page—even if the comment is resolved—the smartlink opens in the same tab, instead of a new tab as expected. This is inconsistent with the behavior of smartlinks without inline comment markers, which open in a new tab.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Add a smartlink to a Confluence page.
      1. Add an inline comment to the smartlink text.
      1. Resolve the comment.
      1. Click the smartlink—notice it opens in the same tab.
      1. Remove and re-add the smartlink text (without any comment).
      1. Click the smartlink—notice it now opens in a new tab.

      Expected Results

Smartlinks should consistently open in a new tab, regardless of whether an inline comment marker is present or has been resolved on the linked text.

      Actual Results

      • On pages where smartlink text has (or previously had) an inline comment, clicking the smartlink opens the link in the same tab.
      • On pages without any inline comment marker on the smartlink text, clicking the smartlink opens the link in a new tab.
      • Removing and re-adding the smartlink text (without any inline comment) restores the expected "open in new tab" behavior.

      Workaround

      1. Remove and re-add the smartlink text (without any comment).
      1. Click the smartlink—notice it now opens in a new tab.
