Problem
Currently, when creating a new database in Confluence Cloud, users can import content using three methods: copy and paste, connect with Jira or Confluence, and import from templates.
However, the import option is limited to the initial creation of the database, and the available filters for selecting pages are minimal.
- This restriction hinders the ability to efficiently populate a database with content from various sources, such as a specific space, parent page, or by using labels.
Suggested Solution
Expand the database import functionality to include:
- The ability to import content into an existing database, not just during initial creation.
- Enhanced filtering options for selecting pages to import, such as by space, parent page, or labels.
- An intuitive user interface that allows users to select and preview content before importing.
- The option to merge imported data with existing database fields without overwriting current data.
Why This Is Important
Providing more robust import options will greatly enhance the flexibility and efficiency of using databases in Confluence.
- Users will be able to better organize and manage their content by seamlessly integrating data from various sources.
This will facilitate more effective collaboration and information sharing within teams.
- By allowing for more granular filtering and selection options, users can tailor their databases to better meet their specific needs and workflows.
Workaround
Currently, there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available.
