Elements Fail to Render Correctly After Converting Pages with Single-Column Layouts from Legacy to New Editor

XMLWordPrintable

      Issue Summary

When converting a page from the legacy editor to the new Fabric editor, a bug occurs if the page contains a single-column layout. Since the new editor does not support single-column layouts, this mismatch during the conversion process causes issues across the page. Multiple elements, both inside and outside the single-column layout, may fail to render correctly. For example, macros such as PDF, Excerpt, Attachments, and others may not display as expected.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. In the legacy editor, create a page with content structured as follows:

      • Add a single-column layout with content inside it (e.g., macros, text, or attachments).
      • Add other elements outside the single-column layout (e.g., macros like PDF or Excerpt).

      2. Convert the page to the new Fabric editor.

      3. Observe the following:

      • The single-column layout is removed during the conversion process.
      • Elements, including macros and content both inside and outside the original single-column layout, fail to render or display correctly.

      Expected Results

All content, macros, and elements (inside and outside the single-column layout) should render correctly after converting a page from the legacy editor to the new Fabric editor, regardless of the layout structure.

      Actual Results

      • Pages with single-column layouts in the legacy editor experience layout issues when converted to the new editor.
      • Specific issues include:
        • Elements within the single-column layout fail to render.
        • Elements outside the single-column layout, such as macros (e.g., PDF, Excerpt, Attachments), may also fail to display or function as expected.
      • Attempts to manually fix the issue (e.g., removing the single-column layout code or cutting and pasting content) result in content loss or incomplete rendering.

      Workaround

      • Removing the single-column layout entirely can resolve the issue.
