Issue Summary
Provide functionality in Confluence Cloud's Backup Manager to automatically notify designated administrators when a backup operation fails.
Description
Currently, the Backup Manager in Confluence Cloud does not support automatic notifications for designated administrators when manual backups fail. As a result, administrators must manually monitor backup statuses and errors, causing delays in troubleshooting and potential data risks.
Suggested features
- Implement automatic email notifications or alerts to administrators or specific email addresses designated by customers whenever a Backup Manager operation encounters an error or fails to complete successfully.
- Include relevant error details (such as timestamp, event ID, and a brief description) within the notification to assist administrators in quickly understanding the problem and facilitating faster troubleshooting.
- Allow customers to freely configure notification recipients to ensure the alerts reach the appropriate individuals or teams responsible for troubleshooting and managing backups.
Expected Results
By enabling automatic notifications for backup failures, designated administrators or teams can quickly become aware of issues without the need for constant manual monitoring. This will improve response times, reduce downtime, ensure timely backups, and significantly enhance the reliability of backup processes within Confluence Cloud.
Actual Results
- When the Backup Manager encounters an error or fails, no automatic notification or alert is sent to any administrators or designated contacts.
- Administrators must manually check the backup status on a regular basis to ensure successful backups.
- If an error occurs during a period when administrators are unavailable (weekends, holidays), issues might remain unresolved for extended periods.
