User-Controlled Email Preferences During Account Setup

Summary: Implement a feature that allows users to set their email preferences during the initial account setup process. This feature would ensure that each user has full control over the types of communications they receive from Atlassian.

      Description:

Currently, users do not have the option to choose their email preferences when they first create their accounts. This lack of choice means that Atlassian decides on behalf of users what emails they receive, which can be seen as presumptuous and does not cater to individual user needs.

This feature request proposes that during the account creation process, users should be prompted to select their email preferences. This would include opt-in and opt-out options for various types of communications, such as product updates, promotional content, and support notifications.

      Benefits:

      • Empowers users by giving them control over their communication preferences.
      • Enhances user satisfaction by reducing unwanted emails.
      • Aligns with best practices for user-centric design and privacy considerations.

      Additional Comments:

While there are existing tickets focused on controlling email preferences at an admin level, this feature emphasizes individual user choice. Each user should be able to decide what they want to receive, independent of administrative controls.
