Problem
Currently, the Gallery Macro in Confluence Cloud is not responsive to the page width or browser size.
When there are enough attachments, they are not displayed in a single row, resulting in a scroll bar being added. This affects the visualization of content, which was not an issue in Confluence Data Center (DC).
Suggested Solution
Implement functionality that allows the Gallery Macro to be responsive to the page width or browser size, ensuring images are displayed in a visually appealing manner without the need for scrolling.
Alternatively, provide an option to enforce image display sizes to fit them within the page view, similar to the request: CONFCLOUD-6222: gallery macro: Support predefined/variable image sizes
Why This Is Important
Responsive design is crucial for user experience, especially for users accessing Confluence on various devices and screen sizes.
Improving the visualization of the Gallery Macro will enhance content accessibility and ensure a consistent experience across platforms.
Workaround
Currently, there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available.
Documentation:
- Cloud: Insert the gallery macro
- DC: Gallery Macro
Steps to reproduce
- Create a Confluence Page with enough attachments that won't be displayed in a "single row" for the Gallery Macro in Confluence Cloud (This is applicable to either, Cloud or Legacy Editors)
- Note that the content is not responsive to the page, and a scroll bar is automatically added (This wasn't the case in Confluence DC)
