Summary:
Currently, Confluence's global keyboard shortcuts are not supported when focus is on Whiteboards.
As a workaround, the user should actually click above or outside the Whiteboards area in Confluence to be able to use the global shortcut.
But from the perspective of a user who is just viewing a Whiteboard, not typing in any input fields, and then wants to quickly use the shortcut such as toggle the space sidebar ([), or quick search (/); they may not immediately realise that they need to click outside the Whiteboard area for the shortcut to work. This can lead to confusion and inefficiency, particularly for users who frequently switch between Whiteboards and other Confluence functionalities.
Proposed solution:
Enable the usage of Confluence's global keyboard shortcuts directly within the Whiteboard area. This will allow users to seamlessly toggle functionalities like the space sidebar or perform quick searches without needing to adjust their focus outside the Whiteboard area.
Benefits
- Improved User Experience: Users can navigate and utilize Confluence's functionalities more fluidly without disrupting their workflow
- Increased Productivity: Reduces unnecessary clicks and actions, allowing users to focus on their tasks.
- Consistency: Aligns the behavior of Whiteboards with other Confluence areas, creating a consistent user experience across the platform.
