Confluence shows a blank page when editing existing content

Issue Summary

When trying to edit a Confluence page that has content on it already, the editor shows an empty page instead of showing the existing content.

Steps to Reproduce

For any affected page, click edit.

(Note that the issue typically only seems to occur on one or a few pages at a time, and not for all pages within a given site.)

Expected Results

Editor opens containing existing content.

Actual Results

Editor opens with a blank page, none of the content visible on the previous published version is present. There is no error message shown to indicate something has gone wrong.

Workaround

Option 1: Revert to previous version

• While in Edit mode while the page is blank, click the More Actions | ... | button (top right), then click 'Revert to previous version'

Option 2: Copy page and work from the copy (suitable to use if Atlassian is actively investigating your case)

• While viewing a working published version of the page, click the More Actions | ... | button (top right)
• Click the Copy and make a copy of the page
• When you Edit this copy of the page, you should be able to see all content as it appears in published mode
• Note: if Atlassian is actively investigating a case for you, please do not delete or "fix" (via workarounds 1 or 3) the original, broken page until the investigation is complete. 

Option 3: Publish blank version, then restore previous version

• Publish the blank page
• Click on More Actions  | ... | button (top right)
• View page history
• Select the checkbox of the previous working version, and 'Restore'
