Significant slowdown while editing longer pages in the Confluence Editor.

      The team has been hard at work implementing changes to improve performance. These include rearchitecting the collaboration service for the Editor, addressing spellcheck errors on certain versions of Chrome, and optimizing table performance. So far, the team has not noticed any significant decreases in performance, but we will continue to monitor for any new regressions and/or any more information which can help us pinpoint the root cause of the problem better.

      Issue Summary

      Observing significant slowdowns in the Confluence Editor on longer pages with more data. There is a delay of up to 5s from keystroke to character being visible on screen, which has a serious impact on the ability to use Confluence as a proper documentation tool.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Go to the Confluence page.
      2. Click the pencil icon on a page to edit the page
      3. Type text on the keyboard
      4. You will see a delay while entering the keywords.

      Expected Results

      • Text should appear immediately after press of a key.

      Actual Results

      • Typing is delayed and text shows up slower than expected, up to 5s from keystroke to character being visible.

      Workaround

      Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available

      Note: The problem is not consistent, and while at times typing will be almost immediate (still noticeable that it's not instant), at other times it will become completely unusable.These significant slowdowns appear to be occurring more frequently and have been reported by team members located on the US West Coast mostly at day time.
