Problem Definition

Customers have expressed interest in controlling the content in email notifications, particularly for safety and security reasons. Currently, there is no option to disable or control the content being displayed in these notifications, which may lead to sensitive information being shared inadvertently or increase the risk of unauthorized access to private content.

Suggested Solution

Implement a new feature in Confluence Cloud that allows users to control the content displayed in email notifications. This feature should include the following capabilities:

1. The ability to disable content display in email notifications completely.
2. Granular control over which types of content can be displayed in email notifications (e.g., text, images, attachments, etc.).
3. The option to set default content display settings at the organization level, while still allowing individual users to customize their preferences.
4. Clear documentation and guidance on how to set up and manage these settings to ensure users are aware of the potential security risks and benefits.

Workaround

As of now, there is no direct workaround to disable or control the content displayed in email notifications. Users can only reduce the volume of notifications they receive by adjusting their notification settings, but this does not address the issue of content display.
