Issue Summary
Guest user group is losing their guest permissions intermittently
NOTE: This is only happening with premium customers
Steps to Reproduce
- Navigate to Directory
- Invite a new user
- Add the user to Confluence as a Guest
- Assign a Space for the Guest user
- Log in as the Guest user
Expected Results
Guest users should be able to use the assigned space without issues
Actual Results
When the issue happens you won't be able to access the assigned space as the guest permissions will be gone
- The below error can be found while looking at the network tab on the web browser
com.atlassian.confluence.api.service.exceptions.PermissionException: Not permitted to view space with id: xxxxxxxx"path: ["space"]
This is how the assigned space looks like while the issue is happening
The org audit log will also show that the external collaborator permission is being revoked and regranted.
Time | User | Event type | Change | Item affected | Actions |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
.... | System | Permissions | Global permission added | Group: confluence-guests-x | Show more |
.... | System | Permissions | Global permission removed | Group: confluence-guests-x | Show more |
Workaround
Please get in touch with Atlassian Support by opening a support ticket HERE, and we'll help you. The workaround will cover the guest access permissions but the org audit log entries will still persist.
