If I turn on numbering, sequential numbering works fine if the numbered steps have no intervening text. But we regularly need text like this:
- Step 1
- Step 2
Elaboration on step 2 that should be indented. (note that I don't want this to be labeled a. since there is no b. (and even if there are two points, they may not be sequential and so an a/b/c just adds visual clutter. I'm not seeing an provision for indenting this, which is sometimes useful for subordinate information
- Step 3. Notice that this has restarted numbering even though I want it to be step 3 because it is part of the previous procedure. The default should be to continue the previous numbering but with the option of restarting at 1.
This is really foundational to have steps correctly number and to have the opportunity for varied amounts of elaboration without forcing numbering of the subparagraphs.
So the above should have looked like
1. Step 1
2. Step 2
Step 2 elaboration
3. Step 3 continues the procedure
