Issue Summary

Under certain circumstances spaces creation can fail leaving the space key unusable.

While this is not a common issue, we have seen it happening in the case of incidents like the following:

Steps to Reproduce

(There have been no reproduction steps reported)

Expected Results

The space creation always work or fails without leaving the space key unusable.

Actual Results

The space creation fails but the space key cannot be used again and the request fails with A space already exists with key <spaceKey> even if the space is not available.

Workaround

Affected customers can reach out to the Atlassian Customer support team to remove the unusable spaces via the form at https://support.atlassian.com/contact.
