Attachments on a page are showing "Failed to load" after it is edited/uploaded with Companion

      Issue Summary

While it is possible to edit files with Companion, save and then it is uploaded the new version on Confluence, when we go back to the page, when checking the attachment on the page, it shows a "Failed to Load", instead of the preview.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Create a page
      2. Upload an attachment in the page, eg: .doc .docx, .xls or .rtf
      3. Make sure the Companion App is open
      4. Go to the attachments page and click on Edit on the attachment uploaded
      5. Edit it with the companion app > editor (Office word or text file for example)
      6. Make the edit and hit save
      7. Upload the new version edit by clicking on Upload in the companion dialogue
      8. Clicking on the ">" button to show the attachments versions, you will see a new version was uploaded
      9. Go back to the page to see the changes

      Expected Results

The preview for the file is available and the changes on the version were applied.

      Actual Results

Failed to load is shown on the attachment

      Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available

Tina Bolton added a comment - The companion app was deprecated https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-articles/Removing-the-Companion-app-from-Confluence-Cloud/ba-p/1884657/

Any update on this? Just saw this happening for both .docx and .xlsx files for no apparent reason - most of the files in the Space is ok so trying to understand why certain files react differently and how to manage the files so the preview is displayed on the page as required.

I've been experiencing the same issue with some screenshots (PNGs) I've been taking on my Macbook. If I create a new Confluence doc and add some screenshots from my machine and then publish the article I can see the images ok. But if I delete the images from my desktop (which is where I dragged them in from) the images then break in Confluence.

I tried doing a hard refresh in the browser and the images then showed again. It seems Confluence is caching the images initially from the original location (my desktop) which is why they weren't showing once I deleted them from my machine.

I just needed to hit CMD+SHIFT+R

Same bug here, previews are not generated after attachment is edited through  Companion app. Sometimes it starts to show preview after some time, some time its not. Sometimes it shows edited file preview after you edit another one file of the same kind - potential workaraound.
