Hi everyone! We're happy to announce that we have deployed the following fixes for OneDrive and Sharepoint links:
- We now support smart links for links shared via "Share with people with existing access” and "Share with specific people"
- We now support embeds for PDF and CSV links

Issue Summary
As part of some changes, Microsoft OneDrive for Business macro is being deprecated and the links inserted on the macro will be converted to Smart Links.
However, the Smart Links for Microsoft sharepoint links are not working with the embedded option, only shows the Smart Link card on the fabric editor.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a new page in fabric editor
- Generate a sharepoint link with the share option (dont try with direct links)
- Open the macro Microsoft OneDrive for Business and insert the link on the field URL
- Save the macro
- Check the behavior on the page
Expected Results
The Smart Link would embed the file, on a similar way it used to work on the Microsoft OneDrive for Business macro.
Actual Results
There is no embedded option for the Smart Links.
Workaround
If there is the legacy editor available on the site, try inserting the macro on the page. This should allow the embedded view of the macro.

we are also waiting for this feature - opened a supportTicket for this in February...

Hi vsutrave, please can you reopen this bug, as the issue still manifests. Embedding a OneDrive for Business/ SharePoint link in a Confluence page is clearly still not working, no matter what links I try, share/direct the result is same Confluence is not converting to smart-link or offering any kind of embed option and from the comments it certainly looks like I am not the only one.
It seems that Atlassian have prematurely disabled the app/macro named 'Microsoft OneDrive for Business for Confluence', which used to embed files for Microsoft OneDrive/SharePoint Links, with intent on replacing it with automatic smart-links based on OneDrive for Business/ SharePoint links, but this substitute functionality is still not working and we are now left with no way of embedding OneDrive for Business/ SharePoint.
I must say I am very disappointed at the way the transition from the use of app/macro to smart-links has been handled, firstly because the app/macro functionality was clearly disabled prematurely, hence the existence of this bug, but even after that the way this bug has been handled, having been raised nearly 1 year ago and recently resolved by you on 23/Mar/2022 and still not fixed per comments by others. And to add to that the old defunct app 'Microsoft OneDrive for Business for Confluence' has not even been deprecated properly, it remains in our site in unusable state.
Hello, while this does indeed work for PowerPoint and Excel files, it is still not functioning with Visio files which were supported by the now-deprecated macro:
We have now added the ability to embed OneDrive and Sharepoint Smart Links (other than videos and image links) via the Atlassian Editor. Please reach out to support if you still are facing problems embedding these links.
Can you provide an update on when this issue might be resolved.
This is eroding usage of Atlassian products in our company.
Really would be helpful to have the ability to embed Visio Diagrams on pages vs links to the diagrams.
Andre - This is a great improvement. Please elaborate on "now support embeds". I assume this means an preview, but I've found not obvious way to achieve this with the Sharepoint link.
